Cancer is the fourth leading cause of death in the Eastern Mediterranean Region, recently launched book 'Cancer in the Arab World' says.
The disease caused approximately 419,000 deaths in 2018. Lung cancer was the most prevalent, followed by breast, bladder, colorectal and liver cancers.

'CANCER IN THE ARAB WORLD' BOOK RELEASED BY DR. HUMAID AL SHAMSI
Cancer In The Arab World took a team of 30 specialists five years to complete and it includes a chapter dedicated to each of 22 Arab nations.
Published by Springer, it examines challenges to palliative care and has a chapter on how cancer treatment can be found in regions where there is conflict.

A Filipina expat with early stage of breast cancer has received help from a hospital based in Dubai, following news of her medical condition in Gulf News.
Burjeel Hospital in Dubai has come forward to help the financially burdened cancer patient. Joylyn Hantig Reano, 40, who has lived here in the UAE for six years was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer last July. NEW DRUG TO TREAT LIVER, LUNG CANCER NOW AVAILABLE IN UAE
Pharma giant AstraZeneca has launched a new cancer medication to treat lung and liver cancers in the UAE.
The UAE is one of the first countries in the Middle East to receive the medication, which is called Imjudo, the state news agency WAM reported. The US Food and Drug Administration approved the drug in October 2022.
